A Complicated Progress (competition finalist)
My finalist proposal for the City of Regina & The Towns Development – Horizon Station Park 2024 Public Art Installation.
A Complicated Progress is a collaborative light sculpture that aims to challenge the idea of a singular history by exploring the multiple legacies brought on by the arrival of a railway system in Saskatchewan Treaty 4 territories. This project allows me to further develop the two central elements of my practice: digital installation and collaborative narrative building. I work on projects that seek to bring life to archives and historical documentation by bringing them into conversation with multiple voices. Much of our historical record comes from a singular perspective, and in inviting artists to remember, create, and imagine together, we breathe new life into forgotten or overlooked histories.
Designed in collaboration with Xiao Han, Melanie Monique Rose and Geanna Dunbar.
Building blocks (competition finalist)
My finalist proposal for a public art installation in front of the Saint-Germaine public library in Saint-Hyacinthe, part of the cultural development initiative, Le Pôle culturel , of Saint-Hyacinthe, Quebec. Using the metaphor of a child playing with building blocks, the artwork highlights the reinvention and multiple identities of the city.
Du nouveau via l’ancien
Presented in the chapel of the monastery of the Sœurs Adoratrices du Précieux-Sang, in Saint-Hyacinthe, this video mapping projection is inspired by its context – the mural art of the chapel. A collage of images taken from the B.J. Hébert collection and illustrations inspired by my research were projected onto the ceiling of the chapel in the form of a digital fresco. With this mural, I explore ideas around the themes of technology and creativity.
24 jours avant – Cathédrale Saint-Jean-l’Évangeliste
A video mapping project that took place inside the St-Jean-l’Évangéliste cathedral in Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu, QC. The project was done in collaboration with the artist collective La Cargaison.
