Du nouveau via l’ancien is a video mapping project presented in the Monastère du Précieux-Sang, in Saint-Hyacinthe.
Inspired by the tradition of religious murals (which decorate the main room of the chapel) I presented my own digital mural on the ceiling of the chapel hall used historically by the monastary’s nuns. The work is both a celebration of the work of the local historic photographer B.J. Hébert and a reflection on the tension that exists between technological innovation and the creative process. Visually, this mural is a collage of images from the B.J. Hébert Fund and my own illustrations.
